04/08/2022Lusitano horses have become more and more numerous in the dressage arena in recent years... Here is an overview of the most successful Lusitano stallions in the discipline.
FOGOSO CAMPLINE
Fogoso Campline, a 12-year-old Lusitano stallion ridden since his youth by his rider Rodrigo Torres, is the best Lusitano stallion in the world and is ranked 30th in the FEI ranking. The **** recommended by the APSL (Association du Pur Sang Lusitanien) stallion has had multiple successes on international tracks: in addition to numerous victories up to 3*, he has won the title of Portuguese Champion, and finished his RLM at the Tokyo Olympic Games with a score of 78.943%, a score never achieved by a Lusitano before!
ESCORIAL CAMPLINE
Escorial is one of the greatest Lusitano breeding stallions of the last decade, thanks to his countless victories and those of his offspring in the breeding shows. This son of Spartacus is currently competing in CDI 5* under the saddle of Brazilian rider João Victor Marcari Oliva, with whom he has been competing in the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games.
EUCLIDES MOR
Euclides MOR is a son of the famous Riopele. He evolves at the highest level under the saddle of Spanish rider Juan Antonio Jiménez Cobo. The 13 year old stallion has performed numerous times at 3 and 4* level: in 2022 he won the Frestyle of the CDI 3* in Camarma de Esteruelas (SPAIN), the Grand Prix Special of the CDI 3* in Jerez de la Frontera and finished 2nd of the Grand Prix.
ALTANEIRO
Altaneiro is a son of Altivo and a Lusitano dressage stallion recommended **** by the APSL and scored 74.5 points. He is ridden by Spanish rider Agusti Elias Lara, with whom he has been competing at a high level since 2017: together, they have taken part in the London World Cup, the CDI 5* in Compiègne, the CHIO in Aachen, and many CDI 3 and 4*!
ESPORIM
Esporim MVL is a Lusitano dressage stallion from the Alter Real line. He has been ridden by the Irish rider Anna Merveldt since 2019. Together, they have taken part in the most beautiful sporting events such as the CDIO 5* in Aachen, the World Cup competitions in Salzbrug, Mariakalnok, Budapest, the European Senior Championships, and will be part of team Ireland for the World Championships in Herning 2022 soon!
ICARO DAS FIGUEIRAS
Icaro Das Figueiras is only 9 years old and made his debut on the international scene in 2021, accompanied by rider Charlotte Chalvignac. The best Lusitano stallion under French saddle, who is a son of Epico Das Figueiras has notably distinguished himself this year at the CDIO 5* in Compiègne and Rotterdam!
GARRETT
Let's go forward in this ranking with dressage stallion Garrett, this grey son of Unico ridden by the Portuguese dressage rider Vasco Mira Godinho since 2019. Very successful on the 3* label, the pair has no less than 3 victories in 2022 from 7 events run! Like Equador and Fenix de Tineo, Garrett will be part of the World Championships in Herning!
FENIX DE TINEO
Fenix de Tineo is certainly the best known son of the Lusitanian dressage stallion Rubi AR and the most successful at high level: alongside his Portuguese rider Maria Caetano, he took part in the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021, he finished 7th in the RLM of the CDI 5* in Compiègne and was part of the Portuguese team that finished 4th in the Nations Cup, and he won the Grand Prix Special of the CDI 3* in Beloura (POR)... A great record of achievement for this 12 year old stallion who will take part in the 2022 World Championships in Herning in a few days time!
FUGAZ DA LAGOALVA
Fugaz Da Lagoalva is a Lusitano stallion ridden by the Portuguese rider Carlos Pinto. The 12 year old son of Rico has 72.5 points and has been performing in Grand Prix since 2021. Amongst others, he took a 5th place in the Grand Prix Special of the CDI 3* in Jerez de la Frontera at the beginning of the year, and was part of the Portuguese team that finished 4th in the Nations Cup of the CDI 5* in Compiègne last May.
FEITICEIRO
Feiticeiro is the Lusitanian stallion who concludes this TOP 10: he is scored 73, is recommended **** by the APSL and competes at 3* level under the Portuguese saddle of Gustavo Mendes. Together they finished 7th in the Grand Prix and 4th in the Grand Prix Special in Segovia last July. In April, they took two third places in the Grand Prix and the Special in Abrantes. A more than promising start for this couple who started the internationals in 2022!
