16/01/2023

The French dressage media DressProd recently published the ranking of the top 5 KWPN sires in terms of number of foals born in 2022 for the dressage discipline. In total, no less than 5,500 KWPN dressage foals were born in 2022, and breeders most often chose the following stallions, in order: My Blue Hors Santiano, Las Vegas, Kjento, For Ferrero and Jameson RS2.

1. My Blue Hors Santiano

My Blue Hors Santiano is a Danish-born stallion from Straight Horse, aged 6 in 2023. He is a son of Sezuan out of a dam by Romanov. There are 253 KWPN foals born in 2022.

The stallion is based at the Van Uytert stables and is ridden by Renate Van Uytert: under her saddle, he won the National Championship at 5 years old and took part in the World Championships in Ermelo that same year.

2. Las Vegas

The crack Las Vegas, ridden by Emmelie Scholtens, is in 2nd place. In 2022, he sired 251 KWPN foals and finished 4th at the World Championships in Ermelo last September.

The 7-year-old son of Ferdeaux and a dam by Wynton has already performed on the dressage arena on numerous occasions: he won the Pavo Cup as a 5-year-old and finished 5th at the World Championships in Verden the same year under the saddle of Franka Loos.

3. Kjento

The 7 year old World Champion 2022 is the 3rd of this ranking! Kjento, the 8 year old stallion from the Van Olst stables by Negro x Jazz who is ridden by the reigning (7 year old and senior!) World Champion Charlotte Fry has shown that he has all the qualities to reach the top level as he has distinguished himself on numerous occasions: champion of his approval in the KWPN studbook, reserve-champion of the Pavo Cup, World Champion of the 6 year olds (with scores of 94 and 96%!).

4. For Ferrero

The stallion For Ferrero has 174 registered KWPN products in 2022. This son of For Romance x Don Crusador was born at Stal de Biebosschen in Belgium. The 2014-born stallion has a good track record: he was champion of his KWPN studbook performance test in 2017, finished 3rd in the Pavo Cup in 2018 and 6th in 2019. He will start the Prix Saint-Georges in 2023.

For Ferrero is located in the Netherlands, at Stal Van De Sande.

5. Jameson RS2

Jameson RS2 is tied for 4th place with For Ferrero: he is also the sire of 174 KWPN foals in 2022. Born in 2014, Jameson RS2 is a son of Blue Hors Zack x Negro. Ridden by Marieke van de Putten since he was four years old, the stallion is one of those promising stallions in the Netherlands. As an 8 year old he made his debut at St. George level with a score of 75%.

As a four year old he had already made a name for himself with an extraordinary season. He won: the Pavo Cup Final, his KWPN studbook performance test, the stallion qualifiers in Peelbergen, Zuidbroek, Ermelo, and the Final of the Dutch 4 year old Championship in Den Bosch!

A good ranking with young stallions that are only at the beginning of their sporting career!
