Jazz, between sport and breeding

Jazz, born "Jacob", has had a great career, both as a sporthorse and as a sire. This stallion, by Cocktail and Charmante (Ulster), was born to Huub and Tinie van Helvoirt in Holland on 21 May 1991. He was sold to Bob van Rijsdijk at the age of 6 months. He was approved for the KWPN studbook in 1994 at the age of 3.

His sporting career was marked by regular placings and victories in the Dutch National Championships under the saddle of Tineke Bartels, by a participation in the World Equestrian Games in Jerez (and a 5th place in the team competition), as well as in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle in Amsterdam, Aachen, Maastricht, Hickstead, S-Hertogenbosch...

While the stallion has made a name for himself as a top sporthorse, Jazz is considered a true leader of the KWPN studbook. HorseTelex has registered more than 2,700 offspring of the stallion. Of these, 222 offspring compete, more than 50 at Grand Prix level and 23 are approved stallions.

Johnson TN, ridden by Hans Peter Minderhoud, is probably one of his best-known sons thanks to his impressive track record: team bronze medallist at the World Games in Caen in 2014, team gold medallist at the European Championships in Aachen in 2015, 4th place in the team competition at the Olympic Games in Rio in 2016. He is also a KWPN-approved stallion and has produced a number of prodigies.

Don Juan de Hus, well known in France, was a stallion son of Jazz (with a dam by Krack C). At two and a half years old, he was the revelation of the Westphalian studbook and won his stallion test at Schlickeau with the best dressage final at age three. Ridden by Jessica Michel Botton from his 4 year old year, he won all the tests he took part in and won the French Championship title at Saumur with a score of 93.6%. The following year, it was in Verden at the World Championships that he distinguished himself by finishing 6th in the final.

Numerous other Jazz offspring have shown the quality of their sire, such as Zaire E (ridden by Jessica Von Bredow), Parzival (ridden by Adelinde Cornelissen), Wynton (ridden by Daniel Bachmann Andersen)...
