Upsilon, the super-talented Eventing stallion

23/03/2023

He was spotted from his very first outings in competition at the age of 4: explosive, respectful, courageous, ... The stallion Upsilon is a real star of the eventing grounds and his results in competition have shown this throughout his career. Born in 2008, the grey stallion is a son of the champion Canturo with an Anglo-Arabian dam by Fusain du Defey.

Upsilon stallion

An outstanding record of achievement

Under the saddle of his only rider Thomas Carlile, Upsilon has never disappointed: he is French champion at 4, 5 and 6 years old with the "Elite" mention, finishes 5th of the World Championship at the Lion d'Angers at 6 years old and offers himself the title of vice-champion of the World Championship at age 7. That same year, he distinguished himself at 2* level in Hartpury and Jardy and won the 7 year old class in Saumur and then at the Lion d'Angers.

At 8 years old, he enters the big league and automatically enters the Group 1 JO/JEM. He confirmed the extent of his talent at 3* level in France and abroad. We will remember this year a beautiful victory in the CIC3* of Blenheim and a title of Pro Élite French Champion in Saumur.

At the age of 9 (!), the grey stallion was selected for the European Championships in Strzegom and continued his career at a high level until the age of 10, when serious health problems inevitably put an end to his sporting career.

A huge offspring beyond eventing

Despite his young age, many French and foreign breeders have placed their trust in Upsilon: in 2019 and 2020, he was the best sire of young horses in the Eventing Cycles Classiques, and in 2020, he was also 16th in the Cycles Classiques ranking in showjumping! Among his offspring in Eventing, we can mention the grey mare Étoile de Béliard (x Barbarian), 6-year-old French champion, First Lady du Destin (x Sioux de Baugy), winner of the 5 year old criterium, but also the crack Fair Lady des Broucks, French champion for 4, 6 and 7 year olds, 3rd in the 5 year old criterium (no French Championship in 2020) who is ridden by the promising young rider Victor Levecque.

Among the youngest, we can think of Fiston des Loges (ridden by Alexis Goury), French foal champion, French champion at 2 years old then vice-champion of the 3 year old Anglo-Arab males. Amongst Upsilon's offspring in showjumping, we find Eau Vive de Béliard (ridden by Marie Demonte), or Fairplay des Forêts (ridden by François-Xavier Boudant), who signed 100% clear rounds during his 5 year old season.
