Showjumping stallion Candy de Nantuel, sire of winners!

19/06/2023

We've been talking about him from an early age... and there's no sign of him stopping! Breeders put their trust in him very early on, and many of them are already enjoying great success with his offspring! Candy de Nantuel is both a brilliant sporting career full of promise, and a sire whose young offspring are already making a name for themselves on the competition circuit.

A faultless sporting career

Candy de Nantuel is born in 2012 and is a son of Luidam, the champion of Irish rider Billy Twomey (who has won many Grands Prix and Nations Cups and remains in the Top 100 sires by the WBFSH) and Thara Nantuel, a daughter of Diamant de Semilly.

Despite his young age, the stallion already has a long list of achievements to his name: in 2015, as a 3-year-old, he was 2nd Top Price at the Fences Elite Auction in September. He finished 3rd in the French Championships for 3-year-old males, and scored 19/20 in the ridden jumping test. He progressed on the SHF circuit with regularity and good results, under the saddles of Alexis Gourdin and then Thomas Rousseau. He won the Masters des étalons Selle Français at 5 and was labelled Elite that same year. At 7, he competed for the first time on the international Championship scene, finishing 25th at the World Championships in Lanaken. Candy came under the saddle of French rider Pénélope Leprévost in 2021 and made his debut in the big time: he finished 6th in the 2* Grand Prix at Valkenswaard and took several rankings in the 5* classes at Saint-Tropez and Rotterdam.

Sire of champions

Given his young age, Candy de Nantuel's production is already immense. He had 1,230 offspring registered with the IFCE in June 2023, and although his first offspring were 5 years old in 2022, he is already the 5th best sire in terms of earnings on the french Cycles Classiques (showjumping) circuit.

He sired the stallion Itoki de Riverland, stallion french double champion at 2 and 3, and 3rd in the French Championships for 4-year-olds (males and geldings) ridden by François-Xavier Boudant. He is also the sire of Holiday de la Cense, 3rd in the French Championship for 5-year-old females, and Harwenn ML, 6th in the championship.

2 of Candy's offspring sold very well at the Élite Fences Auction in 2022: Jumping du Rozel (sold for €92,000) and Jordan du Chalet, €72,000.
